Brainiac Science AbuseBrainiac Science Abuse is a science television show that was shown in the UK from 2003 to 2008. It has been reviewed as a science class without all the boring stuff. While a lot of the information shown is silly and not entirely accurate it gives a light and fun filled change to your classroom. The object of this show is to debunk urban myths and show how science and math can be used in a practical and real life manner. Not only is this video comical, students will be more likely to remember this entertaining video than if they just read safety instructions on a piece of paper. The video could also inspire a class project of designing their own safety or science related videos.Overall usefulness: :) :) :)
Carol Never Wore Her GogglesThis website changes how students view the poster, Carol never wore her Goggles: Now she won't have to. While most of these images are comical and are not truly related to science, the point is to make the students aware the poster and remember the poster. A video that is funny will have a higher retention rate in the brain than some poster. Overall usefulness: :) :)
The ElementsThe Elements is a song created by Tom Lehrer in 1959. This song is sung to a "somewhat recognizable tune" and lists almost all of the elements. This song is a great way to memorize the elements on the periodic table of elements. I remember in high school using this song to help me on my chemistry exams. This song can also be used as an extra credit project: whoever can memorize this song and sing it back to the teacher can get extra credit.Overall usefulness: :) :) :) :) :)Downfalls: Not all the elements are listed, as some elements have been discovered since 1959.
